THE HOT STUFF
- The Money in the Bank Ladder match started off Wrestlemania and what a way to start off the show. This was a fast paced and brutal match with eight Superstars fighting it out for the Title Shot Contract. There were so many high spots and car crash moments it was hard to watch everything going on in the ring and outside the ring. Jeff Hardy was the high spot superhero of this match with his Superhuman Leg Drop off the top of a 20 foot Ladder in the ring onto Edge laying on a Ladder outside the ring ... HOLY SHIT MOMENT for sure. This move took Edge and Jeff out of the match. Randy Orton also had a great high spot when he RKO CM Punk from the top of a Ladder to the ring ... it looked sick and awesome! Mr. Kennedy in the end climbed the the Ladder and retrieved the Money in the Bank suitcase for the win and to become the next MR. MONEY IN THE BANK!!!
-- MVP vs Benoit for the US Title Belt. OH MY GOD! MVP pulled out his best effort and really put on a great match with Benoit. I was every impressed with MVP I did not think he had it in him. Of course Benoit can make a rag doll look good in the ring but that is not the point MVP really bought his A game and it showed. Benoit picked up the win and retained the US Title with the flying headbutt.
--- The Undertaker vs Batista. This was really the Streak vs the World Heavyweight Title. Has much as I hate Batista and think his inring skills suck, Batista and the Undertaker put on one hell of a match. Batista really gave it to the Undertaker in the first part of the match and I was afraid that the Undertaker was going to lose and break his Wrestlemania Streak. The crowd was behind the Undertaker all the way and booed Batista during the whole match. THE UNDERTAKER won the World Heavyweight Championship with the Tombstone Piledriver. THE STREAK LIVES! THE STREAK LIVES! THE STREAK LIVES! THE STREAK LIVES!
---- HBK vs John Cena for the WWE Championship. This feud has been on fire since late February and I was really looking forward to seeing HBK win the WWE Championship again. The Detorit crowd was totally behind HBK even though he was working as a heel in this match. HBK Piledrived Cena in the steal ring steps and started Cena bleeding from the top of the head ... it was a brutal move indeed! Both these Superstars traded finishing moves and keep kicking out of them ... it was so awesome to see HBK kicked out of FU :-) But in the end Cena came through and made HBK tap out to the STFU. Just like HHH last year at Wrestlemania.
THE NOT SO HOT STUFF
- Kane vs Khali. Why was this match on Wrestlmania. It was more suited for Heat not Wrestlemania. I would have like to see more Money in the Bank or the Tag Team LumberJack Match that took place before Wrestlemania went live. Khali won but who cares!
-- ECW Originals vs ECW New Breed. The Originals won with RVD frog splash onto Matt Stiker. Again another match I could care less about.
--- Ashley vs Melina in a LumberJill match. Melina won and retained her WWE Women's Championship but I went to the bathroom and for snacks during this match.
---- Vince vs Trump in a hair match. Everyone know who was going to lose their hair in this match. The only good thing was seeing Vince bald and Donald Trump getting a Stone Cold Stunner ;-)
MVP really surprised me at Wrestlemania 23. I thought this was going to be a quick squash match with Benoit kicking his ass, but instead we got a hard hitting match that if it was any longer could have been match of the night. Even though Benoit won, I hope MVP keeps this momentum going and brings it to Friday Night Smackdown like he did to Wrestlemania 23.
Overall a great four hour show. It really made me happy to see the Undertaker win and keep his streak alive. I was a little disappointed that HBK lost but maybe the Cena and HBK feud is just starting up and we will be treated to a rematch or a couple of rematches. MR MONEY IN THE BANK is Mr. Kennedy and I wanted Jeff Hardy to win but I am very happy Mr. Kennedy has this contract in his back pocket to use anytime, anywhere in the next 12 months.
MY RATING: 7.5
