Bone Smackin' Smackdown Review 3-30-07

Smackdown was the last stop before Wrestlemania 23 and it was pretty good but not as amazing as Monday Night Raw this week. Smackdown had all the Money in the Bank Superstars in one on one action and a few other matches to build heat for Wrestlemania.

THE HOT STUFF

- Mr Kennedy vs Finlay. Kennedy and Finlay are in the Money in the Bank match at Wrestlemania. This was a pretty hard impact and slow paced match, but he really showcased the strength of both of these Superstars. Finlay won with a Celtic Cross for the win.

-- Randy Orton vs Jeff Hardy. These two put on a hell of a match. Jeff look great and he really has built some momentum since we lost the IC belt to Umaga. Jeff picked up the victory after Edge distracted Orton by coming down to ring side. The Edge and Orton feud will be a highlight of 2007.

--- King Booker vs CM Punk. WWE is building Punk up to be a Superstar of the future. I don't think he has much chance to win Money in the Bank but he could get the biggest rub if he preforms as well as he did against Booker. Punk surprised Booker and picked up the 1-2-3 with a quick roll up.

---- Stone Cold Stone Cold, delivers another Stunner to JBL right before his big interview with Batista and Undertaker. I love the stunner and miss seeing it every week. Stone Cold become the Superstar of the night on Raw because he delivered the Stunner to Coach :-)

----- The interview with Batista and Undertaker was ok but finally Batista showed some passion when he talked. He said that he will kick Undertaker's ass and has no respect for the Deadman. Well, the interview turned into a brawl with security trying to seperate these two Superstars. Their match at Wrestlemania will be intresting to watch .... the Streak vs the the Title!

THE NOT SO HOT STUFF

- Edge vs Matt Hardy. The heat between these two has being going on since Edge stole Lita away from Matt a couple of years ago. But Edge being the sneaky heel that he is replaced himself with Khali against Hardy. Kane's music played and he taunted Khali from the Titaintron for the no Contest.

-- The ten Diva tag match was ok but was a waste of time. Mickie James and Victoria were the only two who looked good out there. It is a shame they won't be completing at Wrestlemania outside of being LumberJills.

--- MVP vs ?? Some Champion for Africia that MVP squashed trying to build heat for this US title match at Wrestlemania. Not funny, and not every good.

SUPERSTAR OF THE NIGHT: TEDDY LONG

Teddy has been GM of Smackdown for the past few years and has done a wonderful job. He brings fairness to the GM role that no other person has. When he was doing the interview between Batista and Undertaker he even called Undertaker "Mr. Undertaker" you got to love that!

The rumormill is saying that they are going to replace Teddy as GM of Smackdown and with this fling with Krystal I have a feeling it is some sort of Setup. I hope this is not true ... and that is tabernacle ... PLAYER!

Overall not a bad Smackdown to build towards Wrestlemania but not as good as Raw this week. I liked the Money in the Bank matches but I am getting real bored with MVP and his World Champ Squash matches. Lets hope that Chris Benoit teaches him a few lessons at Wrestlemania.

I am so ready for Wrestlemania I can hardly stand it :-) We will be back with the Wrestlemania Review and check out our article "Wrestlemania: Mr. Money in the Bank" to see who we think will be MR MONEY IN THE BANK.

MY RATING: 7
