Wrestling LINGO: End - Gusher

Continuing our education of the Wrestling World this is Part Three of a Multi-Part Series about Wrestling Lingo and Termanology. Don't forget to check out Part One and Two of this Series "Wrestling LINGO: Abortion - Busted Open and Wrestling LINGO: Call - Dusty Finish"

E

End, Also known as the Finish.

Enforcer, a wrestler who accompanies another to matches, and acts as a bodyguard. This term was coined by Arn Anderson, whose nickname was "The Enforcer".

Extremists, term used by WWE to refer to its ECW brand wrestlers to emphasize that they, and the ECW brand, are more "extreme" in comparison to the Raw and SmackDown! superstars.

F

Face, short for "babyface." Which means the good guy.

Face in Peril, a more generic form of Ricky Morton, a face in a tag team that gets sympathy by being beaten on and stopped from making a tag.

False comeback, when a face mounts a brief offensive flurry before losing it to a heel wrestler after being dominated for several minutes. Usually, a false comeback happens before the actual comeback. Also referred to as a hope spot.

False finish, a spot which the audience expects to finish the match but the wrestler kicks out or makes it to the ropes, used to build excitement during the home stretch.

Fan cam, a video of a wrestling event taped by a member in the audience.

Fan Favorite, alternative name for Face often used in magazines like PWI.

The Federation, an alternative slang name for World Wrestling Entertainment, referring to its past days as the World Wrestling Federation and refusal of calling the company the former.

Feeding, the heel's role during a babyface comeback where he runs at the babyface only to be repeatedly fended off, with the hope that the series of bumps by the heel will generate positive fan heat for the babyface. A babyface could also feed the heel in hopes of generating fan sympathy. Could also refer to providing an opponent with a body part to perform a move, i.e. feeding an opponent the arm so they can perform an armbar.

Feud, a battle between two or more wrestlers or stables, often involving matches, promos and angles. A feud usually lasts for several months.

Fighting Spirit, a demonstration of a wrestler's will to win in the face of adversity, usually in a spot involving the no selling of a supposedly powerful or match-ending move. Originates from puroresu, though some American indy workers influenced by puroresu have since began to implement such spots into their matches.

Finish, the planned end of a match (see also "Dusty Finish," "Clean Finish")

Finisher, a wrestler's trademark move.

Five Moves of Doom the particular combination of moves that a wrestler uses in every match, often leading up to the pin. Wrestlers who are known to use the Five Moves of Doom are Bret Hart and John Cena who have had tendencies to use the same moves, often in the same sequence, to end many matches.

Five Star Bump when a wrestler takes an impressive, massive, bump. Two good examples of this are Mick Foley's bump from top of the Cell at King Of The Ring and Jack Evans' two bumps from the top of the cage at CZW's Cage Of Death 6.

***** (Five Star) Match, a perfect match, not just one of the best matches of the year but one of the best matches of all time.

Flair chop a chop to the chest made popular by Ric Flair, usually followed by the "WOOOOO" by Flair and/or the fans

Following, a term used for a wrestlers' fanbase.

Foreign Object, an object that is illegal to the match, such as a chair, brass knuckles, garbage can, etc.

Considered to be a Match of the Year candidate.

Freebird rule, unofficial rule which allows any two members of a larger tag team to defend the tag titles. Named after the Fabulous Freebirds, who first did this in Georgia Championship Wrestling, and used most recently in the WWE by the Spirit Squad.

Front office or Office, the headquarters and staff that handles the administrative affairs of a wrestling promotion.

G

Gaijin, an American, or other foreign worker in Japanese promotions. (Not a wrestling term, as it is a Japanese word for a foreigner.)

Garbage Wrestling, "hardcore" matches or extremely spot heavy matches wherein wrestlers use nothing but weaponry or highly planned out spots to attack each other, also outrageous gimmick matches that have no obvious elements of traditional in-ring competition. The term was coined by Giant Baba of All Japan Pro-Wrestling when he referred to Atsushi Onita's FMW promotion (which used barbed wire and other such dangerous implements) as "garbage." The term later evolved to encompass spotfests as well.

Gas, steroids (see also juice and roids). Also, stamina (as in out of gas, when a wrestler is tired and unable to perform properly)

Gate, amount of money generated from ticket sales. Merchandise sales are often a part of "the gate".

Gig, the blade a wrestler uses to cut himself.

Gig mark, A scar from blading.

Gimmick, a unique trait that defines a wrestler's identity, or an implement used to cheat i.e., Jeff Jarrett's gimmick of knocking out opponents with his guitar (the guitar itself is also a "gimmick"). Can also mean a wrestler's attire or outfit.

Gimmicked, an object that has been altered to break easily.

Gimmick Table, place where a (usually independent) wrestler sells his merchandise, usually by the concession stand.

Gizmo/Gizzmo, old term for gimmick.

Glorified Jobber, a well-known wrestler whose primary function is losing to other well-known wrestlers.

Going bush, a wrestler who moves from a major league promotion to a regional or independent promotion.

Going into business for ones-self, when a wrestler goes against what has been discussed for a match or segment and improvises, usually for the benefit of their own character or persona.

Gongus Wrongus, refers to the futile ringing of the bell during a post-match beatdown.

Good Hand, a wrestler who other wrestlers enjoy working with due to the wrestler being in total control during the match, not getting lost, and not working too stiff or too light. Also called a "Steady Hand".

Gorilla position, the staging area just backstage of the entrance curtain. Named in honor of WWF mainstay Gorilla Monsoon who would stand there often. The term has since been applied to this area in most U.S. promotions.

Green, refers to a wrestler (often called a green boy, green horn, or green as grass) who is in the early stages of their career and, as a result, may be prone to make mistakes because of their inexperience.

Gusher, a deep cut that bleeds a lot. Usually this is caused by a mistake while blading but can be intentional.

More to come in the weeks ahead so stay tuned!!

WWE Superstar Showcase: Santino Marella

This is BoneDaddy and welcome to WWE Superstar Showcase. Every few weeks I will pick a WWE Superstar to Showcase so we can get to know our superstars better!!

SANTINO MARELLA

From: Calabria, Italy
Career Highlights: won Intercontinental Championship on April 16 Raw in Milan, Italy
WWE Debut: April 16, 2007

When no one took Mr. McMahon's offer for an Intercontinental Championship Match against Umaga on the April 16 Raw in Milan, the Chairman looked to the crowd for someone to face the Samoan Bulldozer.

Enter Santino Marella.

Marella, sitting in the front row, volunteered to face Umaga. Marella got off to a quick start, quick enough for Mr. McMahon to change the match into a No Holds Barred Match. It appeared as if Umaga would destroy Marella under those circumstances, but ECW World Champion Bobby Lashley prevented that. McMahon thought Lashley wasn't in Milan, but he was proven wrong. After the ECW Champion nailed the Samoan Bulldozer with a chair and a vicious spear, he put Marella on top of Umaga. Marella scored the winning pinfall, becoming the Intercontinental Champion in one of the most improbable moments in Raw history.

WWE Championship Title History 1977 - 1988

This is BoneDaddy and Welcome to part two of a multi-part series about the WWE Championship Title History. Please check out the first part "WWE Championship Title History 1963 - 1973".

Continuing where we left off, these set of WWE Champions have a little someone we like to call Hulk Hogan, maybe you have heard of him?

SUPERSTAR BILLY GRAHAM
DEFEATED: Bruno Sammartino
WHERE: Baltimore, MD
WHEN: 04-30-77

“The man of the hour, the man with the power, too sweet to be sour!” That was how Superstar Billy Graham described himself, and who could argue? Graham was perhaps the single most influential performer of the past 30 years, and the mark of that influence can be found in Superstars ranging from Hogan to Scott Steiner.

Clad in tie-dye and feathered boas, the Superstar was a sign of things to come, and boasted a chiseled, muscular physique that was very unique at the time. During the late 1980s, he made a brief return to WWE competition, and even enjoyed stints as a manager and broadcaster

BOB BACKLUND
DEFEATED: Superstar Billy Graham
WHERE: New York, NY
WHEN: 02-20-78

Bob Backlund utilized his supreme technical and mat wrestling skills to take down and defeat “Superstar” Billy Graham. Graham, who was traditionally a rule breaker, had the rules broken on him for a change. Backlund had Graham in a pinning predicament, but Graham got his foot on the ropes. The referee was out of position to see the champ’s foot, though, and his hand hit the mat for the three count giving Backlund his first WWE Championship.

In the end, this reign as WWE Champion turned out to be far more succesful than Backlund's second reign, which lasted a mere three days in November 1994.

THE IRON SHEIK
DEFEATED: Bob Backlund
WHERE: New York, NY
WHEN: 12-26-83

The Iron Sheik became WWE Champion the day after Christmas in 1983 when he defeated Bob Backlund at Madison Square Garden. The victory was a controversial one, as Backlund's manager Arnold Skaaland threw in the towel, as Backlund refused to submit.

The Iron Sheik left WWE in 1988, and popped up in WCW in 1989 for a brief period of time. He then reappeared in WWE in 1991 by the side of former enemy Sgt. Slaughter as Colonal Mustafa. After that brief stint, he reappeared again in 1997 as a manager of The Sultan. His last appearance was at WrestleMania X-Seven as The Iron Sheik returned for one night only, winning a Gimmick Battle Royal and re-igniting his rivalry with Slaughter in the process.

HULK HOGAN
DEFEATED: The Iron Sheik
WHERE: New York, NY
WHEN: 01-23-84

Hulk Hogan is arguably the most famous WWE Superstar of all time. World Wrestling Entertainment was never the same after Hogan replaced an injured Bob Backlund and defeated The Iron Sheik for the WWE Championship on January 23, 1984, at Madison Square Garden. A phenomenon was born.

After a brief appearance at Raw Homecoming in October 2005, Hogan would not return again until July 2006. Along with daughter Brooke, the Hulkster appeared on Saturday Night's Main Event. There, the Hogans were accosted by Randy Orton, who eventually RKOed Hogan onto a car and challenged him to a match at SummerSlam. Hogan accepted, and his perfect SummerSlam record stayed intact when he pinned Orton at the Biggest Party of the Summer.

ANDRE THE GIANT
DEFEATED: Hulk Hogan
WHERE: Indianapolis, IN
WHEN: 02-05-88

Andre the Giant was the largest athlete the world had ever seen, and was sports-entertainment’s most famous attraction throughout the 1970s and much of the 1980s. Standing 7 feet 4 inches tall and weighing between 475 and 540 pounds over the course of his career, he truly earned his nickname of “The Eighth Wonder of the World.”

Shortly after his passing in 1993, Andre was posthumously honored as the first inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame, truly capping his legacy as one of the best ever. More so than for any individual accomplishment, Andre will always be remembered for the years he reigned supreme as the most famous Superstar in sports-entertainment.

WWE Superstar Showcase: Carlito

This is BoneDaddy and welcome to WWE Superstar Showcase. Every few weeks I will pick a WWE Superstar to Showcase so we can get to know our superstars better!!

CARLITO

Height: 5 foot 10
Weight: 220 pounds
From: The Caribbean
Signature Move: Back Cracker
Career Highlights: Intercontinental Champion; United States Champion; host of "Carlito's Cabana"
WWE Debut: Nov. 2004

Carlito spits in the face of people who don't want to be cool, and apparently, many WWE Superstars fall into the category. Exceptionally opinionated and full of himself, Carlito projects quite the smooth demeanor. Armed with an apple in hand, Carlito isn't afraid to unload a mouthful of apple and spit it into your face after labeling you not cool. Of course, this has led to a great deal of trouble for Carlito as WWE Superstars haven't taken his attitude well.

Debuting with a big impact, Carlito defeated reigning United States Champion John Cena in his first WWE match in October 2004. Quickly making a lot of enemies, Carlito found himself in need of some back-up. Always scheming, Carlito introduced his Puerto Rican muscle - Jesus. It was around this time in November 2004 that tragedy struck, as John Cena was stabbed in a Boston nightclub following a SmackDown event. An investigation was launched, but a culprit was never found. However, Carlito and his associate were both rumored to being connected to the hideous attack on Cena.

With Carlito's cockiness and buzz growing, his momentum hit a bump in the road; he suffered a shoulder injury in late 2004, which sidelined him through the spring of 2005. Carlito's ego insists on that worldwide spotlight which is WWE, so he began hosting a talk show segment on SmackDown called Carlito's Cabana. Irritating and disrespecting countless SmackDown Superstars during the Cabana, Carlito maintained his spot as one of the most loathed Superstars on SmackDown despite being out of the ring for nearly five months.

The relationship with Trish didn’t last long due to her retirement from sports-entertainment. However, Carlito didn’t waste much time. Since Trish left, he’s been barking up another Raw Diva’s tree: Torrie Wilson. Will his romantic endeavor with Torrie pan out? Only time will tell for the Caribbean Superstar.

Bone Chillin’ and Smackin' Wrestlemania 23 Review

Finally the Road to Wrestlemania 23 ends in Detorit and it was so worth the trip. Wrestlemania is the Superbowel of Sports Entertainment and this years was no different. All the Superstars put out their best effort and it showed in every match. Most of my predications were wrong but I don't care it was one hell of a show!

THE HOT STUFF

- The Money in the Bank Ladder match started off Wrestlemania and what a way to start off the show. This was a fast paced and brutal match with eight Superstars fighting it out for the Title Shot Contract. There were so many high spots and car crash moments it was hard to watch everything going on in the ring and outside the ring. Jeff Hardy was the high spot superhero of this match with his Superhuman Leg Drop off the top of a 20 foot Ladder in the ring onto Edge laying on a Ladder outside the ring ... HOLY SHIT MOMENT for sure. This move took Edge and Jeff out of the match. Randy Orton also had a great high spot when he RKO CM Punk from the top of a Ladder to the ring ... it looked sick and awesome! Mr. Kennedy in the end climbed the the Ladder and retrieved the Money in the Bank suitcase for the win and to become the next MR. MONEY IN THE BANK!!!

-- MVP vs Benoit for the US Title Belt. OH MY GOD! MVP pulled out his best effort and really put on a great match with Benoit. I was every impressed with MVP I did not think he had it in him. Of course Benoit can make a rag doll look good in the ring but that is not the point MVP really bought his A game and it showed. Benoit picked up the win and retained the US Title with the flying headbutt.

--- The Undertaker vs Batista. This was really the Streak vs the World Heavyweight Title. Has much as I hate Batista and think his inring skills suck, Batista and the Undertaker put on one hell of a match. Batista really gave it to the Undertaker in the first part of the match and I was afraid that the Undertaker was going to lose and break his Wrestlemania Streak. The crowd was behind the Undertaker all the way and booed Batista during the whole match. THE UNDERTAKER won the World Heavyweight Championship with the Tombstone Piledriver. THE STREAK LIVES! THE STREAK LIVES! THE STREAK LIVES! THE STREAK LIVES!

---- HBK vs John Cena for the WWE Championship. This feud has been on fire since late February and I was really looking forward to seeing HBK win the WWE Championship again. The Detorit crowd was totally behind HBK even though he was working as a heel in this match. HBK Piledrived Cena in the steal ring steps and started Cena bleeding from the top of the head ... it was a brutal move indeed! Both these Superstars traded finishing moves and keep kicking out of them ... it was so awesome to see HBK kicked out of FU :-) But in the end Cena came through and made HBK tap out to the STFU. Just like HHH last year at Wrestlemania.

THE NOT SO HOT STUFF

- Kane vs Khali. Why was this match on Wrestlmania. It was more suited for Heat not Wrestlemania. I would have like to see more Money in the Bank or the Tag Team LumberJack Match that took place before Wrestlemania went live. Khali won but who cares!

-- ECW Originals vs ECW New Breed. The Originals won with RVD frog splash onto Matt Stiker. Again another match I could care less about.

--- Ashley vs Melina in a LumberJill match. Melina won and retained her WWE Women's Championship but I went to the bathroom and for snacks during this match.

---- Vince vs Trump in a hair match. Everyone know who was going to lose their hair in this match. The only good thing was seeing Vince bald and Donald Trump getting a Stone Cold Stunner ;-)

SUPERSTAR OF THE NIGHT: MVP

MVP really surprised me at Wrestlemania 23. I thought this was going to be a quick squash match with Benoit kicking his ass, but instead we got a hard hitting match that if it was any longer could have been match of the night. Even though Benoit won, I hope MVP keeps this momentum going and brings it to Friday Night Smackdown like he did to Wrestlemania 23.

Overall a great four hour show. It really made me happy to see the Undertaker win and keep his streak alive. I was a little disappointed that HBK lost but maybe the Cena and HBK feud is just starting up and we will be treated to a rematch or a couple of rematches. MR MONEY IN THE BANK is Mr. Kennedy and I wanted Jeff Hardy to win but I am very happy Mr. Kennedy has this contract in his back pocket to use anytime, anywhere in the next 12 months.

MY RATING: 7.5

Bone Smackin' Smackdown Review 3-30-07

Smackdown was the last stop before Wrestlemania 23 and it was pretty good but not as amazing as Monday Night Raw this week. Smackdown had all the Money in the Bank Superstars in one on one action and a few other matches to build heat for Wrestlemania.

THE HOT STUFF

- Mr Kennedy vs Finlay. Kennedy and Finlay are in the Money in the Bank match at Wrestlemania. This was a pretty hard impact and slow paced match, but he really showcased the strength of both of these Superstars. Finlay won with a Celtic Cross for the win.

-- Randy Orton vs Jeff Hardy. These two put on a hell of a match. Jeff look great and he really has built some momentum since we lost the IC belt to Umaga. Jeff picked up the victory after Edge distracted Orton by coming down to ring side. The Edge and Orton feud will be a highlight of 2007.

--- King Booker vs CM Punk. WWE is building Punk up to be a Superstar of the future. I don't think he has much chance to win Money in the Bank but he could get the biggest rub if he preforms as well as he did against Booker. Punk surprised Booker and picked up the 1-2-3 with a quick roll up.

---- Stone Cold Stone Cold, delivers another Stunner to JBL right before his big interview with Batista and Undertaker. I love the stunner and miss seeing it every week. Stone Cold become the Superstar of the night on Raw because he delivered the Stunner to Coach :-)

----- The interview with Batista and Undertaker was ok but finally Batista showed some passion when he talked. He said that he will kick Undertaker's ass and has no respect for the Deadman. Well, the interview turned into a brawl with security trying to seperate these two Superstars. Their match at Wrestlemania will be intresting to watch .... the Streak vs the the Title!

THE NOT SO HOT STUFF

- Edge vs Matt Hardy. The heat between these two has being going on since Edge stole Lita away from Matt a couple of years ago. But Edge being the sneaky heel that he is replaced himself with Khali against Hardy. Kane's music played and he taunted Khali from the Titaintron for the no Contest.

-- The ten Diva tag match was ok but was a waste of time. Mickie James and Victoria were the only two who looked good out there. It is a shame they won't be completing at Wrestlemania outside of being LumberJills.

--- MVP vs ?? Some Champion for Africia that MVP squashed trying to build heat for this US title match at Wrestlemania. Not funny, and not every good.

SUPERSTAR OF THE NIGHT: TEDDY LONG

Teddy has been GM of Smackdown for the past few years and has done a wonderful job. He brings fairness to the GM role that no other person has. When he was doing the interview between Batista and Undertaker he even called Undertaker "Mr. Undertaker" you got to love that!

The rumormill is saying that they are going to replace Teddy as GM of Smackdown and with this fling with Krystal I have a feeling it is some sort of Setup. I hope this is not true ... and that is tabernacle ... PLAYER!

Overall not a bad Smackdown to build towards Wrestlemania but not as good as Raw this week. I liked the Money in the Bank matches but I am getting real bored with MVP and his World Champ Squash matches. Lets hope that Chris Benoit teaches him a few lessons at Wrestlemania.

I am so ready for Wrestlemania I can hardly stand it :-) We will be back with the Wrestlemania Review and check out our article "Wrestlemania: Mr. Money in the Bank" to see who we think will be MR MONEY IN THE BANK.

MY RATING: 7

Bone Chillin’ Raw Review for 3-26-07

The last Monday Night Raw before Wrestlemania 23 and it was amazing! Vince and Co. put on one Hell of a TV program. Even the hair match advancements did not get on my nerves as much as they have been in the past couple of weeks. I contribute this mostly of the involvement of Stone Cold Steve Austin. And Good Ole JR was announced for the Hall of Fame what a touching moment of Sports Entertainment. So lets get right into it:

THE HOT STUFF:

- Stone Cold, Stone Cold, Stone Cold. He really pushed the hair match at Wrestlemania and I loved his interaction with the Coach. And finally the return of the Stone Cold Stunner and I could not think of anyone better than the Coach to be stunned.

-- CM Punk vs Kenny. Man both of these Superstars looked great and had a good night in the ring. Punk could be a main event star soon if he does not waste away in ECW! Kenny for as young and new to WWE as he is, his talent and ring work and excellent and only going to improve over time. Punk finished the match with a killer Fireman Carry into a knee in the face for the 1-2-3 victory over Kenny.

--- The eight man edition of the Cutting Edge for the Money in the Bank match at Wrestlemania. Man it was so cool to see all the Money in the Bank Superstars in the ring together, this match is going to be out of this world. Check out our article "Wrestlemania: Mr. Money in the Bank" to see our predictions on who will be MR MONEY IN THE BANK! Basicly Edge talked trash to everyone to build heat for this match. Punk, Jeff and Matt Hardy, and Finlay came off the strongest of the eight. This was a great way to build towards Wrestlemania.

---- Cena and HBK both did interviews before their match with Batista and Undertaker and they were OFF THE HOOK. The intensity of both of these Superstars really sold their match at Wrestlemania. I think this will be the show stealer of Wrestlemania and I am hoping HBK the Show Stopper becomes the next WWE Champion!!

----- Vince Guaran-damn-teeya that he would be pin Bobby Lashley in the ring 1-2-3. Well with the help of Cade and Murdock, The Masterpiece, Johnny Nitro, Umaga and a low blow from Vince he got his pin in the middle of the ring. I liked this segment because Lashley got knocked around a little by Umaga giving their match at Wrestlemania a needed boosted to help sell this Billionaire Hair Match. I am betting Vince will lose but it would be great to see a bald Donald Trump.

------ Jim Ross was announced for the Hall of Fame 2007 Class and his emotion really showed through when they announced him. JR is the heart and soul of Monday Night Raw and it is nice to see him recognized for all of his hard work and determination to make Raw the number one Sports Entertainment program on the air today.

------- Mr Kennedy and Randy Orton vs Matt and Jeff Hardy. Another Money in the Bank Superstar contest to build some heat for Wrestlemania. I love Mr. Kennedy on Monday Night Raw and I think he would do really well there in feuds against Carlito, Johnny Nitro, Jeff Hardy, Ric Flair just to name a few. Orton picked up the victory for his team with a out of now where RKO on Jeff Hardy. This was a good fast match that showcased everyones talent.

-------- Cena and HBK vs Batista and the Undertaker. Both of these teams are going head to head at Wrestlemania and Batista and Undertaker showed the most cracks and started to feud with each other a little. But the big surprise was that Cena and HBK were working great together until HBK throws a surpise Superkick into Cena towards the end of the match. Man their match is going to be wonderful. Batista picked up the win with a lazy one arm pin on Cena after the HBK Superkick.

THE NOT SO HOT STUFF:

-The Playboy Cover Girls vs Melina, Victoria and Jillian Hall from Smackdown. This match was just to setup a LumberJill Match for the Women's Title at Wrestlemania. The match as ok but compared to all the other matches the card it was poor in comparison. The Playboy Cover girls (Torrie, Candice and Ashley) won with Ashley getting a clean pin on Jillian Hall.

-- Khali vs Ric Flair. Why, Why, Why. Ric should be in a better position then starting a feud with a no talent hack. The only good thing was that Carlito came to Ric's aid and got the double handed chokeslam instead of Flair.

SUPERSTAR OF THE NIGHT: STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN

The Stone Cold Stunner made it's return on Raw and I have missed it and it's devastating results for years and I am glad to see it back. I know that Steve won't be around much after Wrestlemania so it is nice to see him ... Drink beer, Raise Hell and then Leave! WWE previewed his new movie the Condemned and it looks pretty damn good, I can't wait to see it ;-) Also, Steve will be inducting his good friend JR into the Hall of Fame.

What an amazing Raw! Everything seems to be firing on all cylinders and really built up Wrestlemania as the must see Pay Per View of the year! I can't wait for Sunday April 1 because that is when my boy HBK will become the next WWE Champion and Batista will finally lose to someone who can wrestle and make Smackdown a better show!

MY RATING: 9

Wrestling LINGO: Call - Dusty Finish

Continuing our education of the Wrestling World this is Part Two of a Multi-Part Series about Wrestling Lingo and Termanology. Don't forget to check out Part One of this Series "Wrestling LINGO: Abortion - Busted Open"

C

Call, When one wrestler instructs the other of what is going to happen in the match.

Canned heat, when cheers or boos are pumped into an arena via the sound system or added to a television show in post-production. It is also known as "sweetening the crowd".

Card, the lineup of the matches that will be staged at a given venue for a given performance.

Carry, the act of one wrestler doing most of the work (selling moves, calling spots) to make a match watchable.

Catchphrase, a phrase or expression that is repeated in promos and interviews to encourage crowd interaction.

Championship, in kayfabe, a recognition of a wrestler being the best in his or her promotion or division in the form of a championship belt (also "title" or "strap"). Outside of kayfabe, championships are won/held by a wrestler whom the bookers believe will generate fan interest in terms of event attendance and television viewership.

Cheap heat, when a wrestler (often a heel) incites a negative crowd reaction by insulting the crowd (for example, by insulting the city, or a local sports team) or by using a news event as part of his promo.

Cheap pop, when a wrestler (often a face) incites a positive crowd reaction by "kissing up" to the crowd (for example, mentioning the name of the city, or complimenting a local sports team).

Cheap shot, when a wrestler uses a low blow or a foreign object to get an advantage over his opponent.

Chemistry, when two wrestlers work well together by pulling off each others moves well and telling the story well to the audience.

Circus, derogatory reference to a promotion's extensive use of cartoon-type gimmicks. Often used in reference to the World Wrestling Federation during the 1980s and early 1990s, due to gimmicks such as clowns, animal mascots and wrestlers adopting animal-like characteristics.

Clean finish, when a match ends without cheating or outside interference, usually in the center of the ring. (compare "screwjob")

Clean house, when a wrestler eliminates everyone in the ring, either in a battle royal or during a save.

Closet champion, a current titleholder (usually a heel) who ducks top-flight competition, cheats to win (often by managerial interference), and – when forced to wrestle good opponents – deliberately causes himself to be disqualified (since titles often do not change hands by disqualification) to retain his title.

Clubberin', a rain of heavy blows from TWO WRESTLERS, usually during a tag team match, in one teams corner; the brawling style of wrestling. Coined by "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes.

Cluster or Clusterfuck, a large fight in the middle of the ring with a huge number of wrestlers which is used to end a match or show.

Color, a term used by wrestlers and promoters to discuss the amount of bloodshed in a match, i.e. "getting good color" would end up looking like a Crimson Mask.

Color commentator, the commentator who adds interest and excitement to matches. Often biased towards the heel. Typically a former pro-wrestler.

Crash TV, a style of booking characterized by short matches and promos. So named because of the sheer amount of TV slammed into a show. Popularized by Vince Russo.

Crimson mask, a face covered in blood (see also "Muta scale").

Curtain jerker, the first match on the card, or a wrestler who wrestles in the first match of the card, especially on a regular basis.

D

Dark match, a non-televised match at a televised show used to warm up the crowd (compare "house show"). A dark match before the show begins is usually used to test out new talent (often local to the event). A dark match after the show typically features main-event level wrestlers either to sell more tickets, or send the crowd home happy.

Daydreaming, A term used to refer to someone laying down for the pin.

Dead weight , when a wrestler goes limp in the middle of a move. This could be done intentionally, either to make his opponent look weak or just rib him, or unintentionally because the "dead weight" wrestler is unfamiliar with the cooperation needed to pull off a particular wrestling hold (or just not paying attention). An example of unintentional dead weight would be Hulk Hogan's body slam on Zeus during the 1989 Survivor Series where Hogan had to rely entirely on his own strength to lift the relatively untrained Zeus. See also Sandbag.

The Deal, another term for title belt.

Dirtsheet, a newsletter, magazine, or website that portrays wrestling as scripted entertainment, rather than portraying it as a sport. Dirtsheets often offer backstage information and gossip about wrestlers and others involved in wrestling.

Diva, generally synonymous with valet, but can refer to any woman involved in wrestling, either as "eye candy" or as a wrestler. This term originated from WWE. See also Superstar.

Do business, when two wrestlers work together to get a match or an angle over. Also when a wrestler does a job or angle when asked regardless of whether it helps him/her.

Dogging, to put in minimal effort.

Doing business on the way out, to job before leaving a particular promotion.

Double-clutch, to hesitate and bounce before jumping off the top rope, resulting in limited airtime and height.

Double juice, when two wrestlers blade during a given match. Can be expanded to "triple juice", "quadruple juice", etc.

Double turn, the rare occurrence when both the heel and the face switch roles during an angle or a match. The best example of this is the Bret Hart/Steve Austin match at WrestleMania 13.

Down South: a term used to refer to World Championship Wrestling or any other Southern-based promotion (including Total Nonstop Action Wrestling). (Compare: Up North)

Draw, to be able to attract the attention of the audience.

Drawing Power, Having recognition with the fans as a star, someone fans pay to see.

Dropping the strap, when a titleholder agrees to be booked to lose the title to a contender

Dusty finish, an ambiguous finish to a match where either wrestler can be claimed the winner. The term refers to Dusty Rhodes, who booked many such finishes in NWA and later in WCW.

More to come in the weeks ahead so stay tuned!!

Bone Smackin' Smackdown Review 3-23-07

Smackdown keeps delivering on the Road to Wrestlemania. Not as good as Raw last week but not too bad all the way around. Of course we had Vince pushing and pushing the Hair match but we also had some good wrestling.

THE HOT STUFF:

- Kendrick and London vs MNM. This was for the tag team titles and again Kendrick and London showed why they are the Champs right now; lots of high flying quick action from Kendrick and London. Mecury for MNM was in the ring most of the time and he looked a little slow compared to Kendrick and London. Melina tries to get involved with Ashley stopping her ... building more heat for their match at Wrestlemania. London and Kendrick won and retained their belts with a clean pin on Mercury.

-- Chavo took on Jimmy Wang Yang, Smackdown's Resident Redneck. The match was good and the WWE is starting to build a feud with Chavo and Jimmy. Jimmy looked great with his Cruiserweight style that made Chavo look a little big in body style for this divison. Jimmy won with a reverse Moonsault from the top rope. Nice move and a clean victory for Jimmy.

--- Mr. Kennedy and Randy Orton vs Bobby Lashley in a Tables Match. There was some good and some bad points in this match, but overall a solid outing. Lashley had to win by putting both Orton and Kennedy through a table. The match was slow at times, but Lashley looked strong and picked up the win by putting Kennedy and then Orton through their own tables.

---- Benoit vs Gregory Helms. This match started during the commerical (which I hate), but what we witnessed was another great match from these two. Both of these Superstars know how to work in a match. Benoit was giving Helms some nasty Chops and a beautiful Northern Lights Suplex. Benoit got Helms to tap out with the cross face. Benoit is looking strong and unbeatable going into Wrestlemania. His lost to Cena on Raw last week does not take anything away from him.

----- The main event was Batista and Undertaker vs King Booker and Finlay. Before the match Booker and Finlay jumped Batista in the back and beat him up pretty good. So the match started without Batista and that is no problem for me. This turned into a Handicap match between Undertaker and Booker and Finlay.

The handicap match was pretty good contest going back and forth between Undertaker and Booker and Finlay ... The Undertaker won again via DQ when Finlay used his stick to hit the Undertaker in front of the Ref. Then the DQ bell rang Batista came out to help with the post match beat down and then turned on the Undertaker and thru Booker into him when he was going to give Finlay the last ride. The real question is how are these two going to act on Monday Night Raw when they meet Cena and Orton in a No Way Out rematch? Should be very good.

THE NOT SO HOT STUFF:

- I am soo tired of Vince pushing this hair match like it is the best thing going in the WWE. I don't care anymore who gets their head shaved... lets just pray Vince leaves our TVs for awhile after Wrestlemania.

-- MVP vs Fredrick von House. Another "world champion" from Europe that MVP squashes on his road to the US Title at Wrestlemania. MVP does not stand a chance aganist Benoit.

--- The Kennedy and Orton vs Lashley match is in the HOT STUFF Section but it is also listed here because it is tied to the hair match that I am so sick of .... I don't even want to talk about it anymore.

SUPERSTAR OF THE NIGHT: JIMMMY WANG YANG

Jimmy had a great match against Chavo starting a feud for the Cruiserweight Belt. Jimmy deserves to win this belt because he got screwed out of the belt during the Cruiserweight battle royal a few weeks back. Jimmy is the resident redneck of Smackdown and I just love the way he moves in the ring. I look forward to more matches with Jimmy and him becoming the next Cruiserweight Champion!!

Overall Smackdown was a good show, not as good as Raw, but Smackdown is building new feuds and really starting to push the Undertaker as the most dominate Superstar on Smackdown (like the Heavyweight Champion is suppose to be). The Vince and Bobby Lashley stuff took to much time, but it could have been worst. Very little Batista is always a good thing. I liked seeing Randy Orton on Smackdown I think he would do really well there. Just one more Smackdown before Wrestlemania and I bet it is going to be ass kicking!! I am looking forward to the Undertaker and Batista interview with JBL and what does Jimmy Wang Yang have up his sleeve??

Bone Chillin’ Raw Review for 3-19-07

With less than 2 weeks before Wrestlemania 23 Monday Night Raw was explosive! This was a excellent Raw better than the past two weeks put together. Lots of great stuff and very little bad ... so lets get right to it:

THE HOT STUFF

- Raw opened with HBK vs JBL. But when JBl came out we was not dressed to wrestle instead he had a verbal spat with HBK that was just awesome. After watching this "spat" I see why JBL is a great old time heel. He had the crowd booing him before he finished his first paragraph. After JBL finished giving HBK a good tongue lashing HBK finished him off with suprise SuperKick .... Man HBK is quick on his feet ... Great start to a wonderful Raw.

-- BOBBY LASHLEY beat the Masterlock!! I hope this puts an end to these damn Masterlock Challenges!

--- Stone Cold's 'All Grown Up" Wrestlemania promo was off the hook. I loved the "little" Austin was having a Milk bash it was perfect and added to the feel of Wrestlemania. Good job WWE Graphic Design Team!

---- The Battle Royal Match to get Edge's spot in Money in the Bank match at Wrestlemania. Edge pulled the tricky heel playing hurt and then throws the 'last' man out to win the match and keep his spot at Wrestlemania. All the Superstars did a great job in this match but the highlights were Carlito and Ric Flair they put some heart and soul into this match and it was an edge of the seat match hoping for one of them to win!

----- Candice and Melina in a Bra and Panties match was surprisely good. I was hoping Candice would beat Melina but I was wrong ... Melina won the match but then Ashley comes out and stripes Melina of her shirt and leaves her in her bra and panties ... classic way to build some heat between these two for Wrestlemania.

------ Jeff Hardy vs Randy Orton. Jeff was selling his back injury from last week but these two put on a great contest. There was some fast pace action and some soild wrestle moves but Jeff won via DQ win Edge comes out and throws a ladder into the ring. Randy uses the ladder to smash Hardy but when Orton's back is turned Hardy gets a Twist of Fate onto the Ladder and then using the ladder as a spring board to give Orton the big leg drop .... AWESOME ... the Money in the Bank Match could be match of the year.

------ John Cena vs Chris Benoit. Benoit can make anyone look good in a match but Cena really brought his A game to this one. Very fast and brutal match with Benoit getting the three amigos and Cena winning with the STFU win Benoit Tapped Out!! Benoit TAPPED OUT I can't believe it!!

During the match HBK was at ring side giving commentary with JR and Todd Grisham .. Take a note Batista this is how you build heat and a match when you are doing commentary! After the match Cena and HBK play mind games with each other until JBL comes back out and announces next week will be a rematch from No Way Out .. Cena and HBK vs Batista and Undertaker! What a great way to end a wonderful Raw.

THE NOT SO HOT STUFF

- Vince pushing the Billionaire's Hair match down our throats -- I don't care anymore. Then Umaga comes out and squashes Eugene and then shave his head.

-- Khali comes out after the Bra and Panties match and gets ready to chokeslam Ashley before The King saves her to get chokeslamed himself. Thats it .. no Kane no nothing and then No King for the rest of the show

SUPERSTAR OF THE NIGHT: JBL

Man it was hard to pick a Superstar of the Night from this Raw becasue there was so many great performances, but JBL showed why he was Heavyweight Champion and one of the best talkers in the business. Man he sold the Match between Cena and HBK at Wrestlemania better than anyone else to date. I hope he never comes out of retirement to wrestle because he is serving the WWE as a announcer better.

What an amazing night for Monday Night Raw. If it was not for the Khali and Vince stuff this would have been a perfect night. I am soo happy Bobby Lashley beat the Maserlock and that we had Wrestlemania Reversal night. Lets hope Smackdown can keep this hot vibe going this Friday Night!

MY RATING: 8.5

WWE Championship Title History 1963 - 1973

This is BoneDaddy and Welcome to part one of a multi-part series about the WWE Championship Title History. We will look at where the title started and work our way to the current WWE Champion.

The WWE Championship is widely recognized as the most historic championship in sports-entertainment. Dating back to 1963, the WWE Championship was first awarded to Buddy Rogers after he defeated Antonino Rocca in the finals of a tournament in April.

BUDDY ROGERS
DEFEATED: Antonino Rocca
WHERE: Rio de Janeiro
WHEN: 04-29-63

The original “Nature Boy”, Buddy Rogers, won the first-ever WWE Championship in a tournament in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, last defeating Antonino Rocca. The WWE Hall of Famer was one of the most hated Superstars of his time, but he used his patented Figure Four Leglock to torture opponents and become the first-ever WWE Champion.

BRUNO SAMMARTINO
DEFEATED: Buddy Rogers
WHERE: New York, NY
WHEN: 05-17-63

Bruno Sammartino faced off against the hated Buddy Rogers at Madison Square Garden. Sammartino used a dropkick, backbreaker and a crushing bearhug to dethrone the champ. Sammartino would go on to defend his WWE Championship for an unprecedented eight years, which is a record that still stands today.

IVAN KOLOFF
DEFEATED: Bruno Sammartino
WHERE: New York, NY
WHEN: 01-18-71

Managed by Captain Lou Albano, the “Russian Bear” Ivan Koloff got a shot at Bruno Sammartino’s WWE Championship at Madison Square Garden, the same place that Sammartino won the title almost eight years prior. Both Superstars were masters of the bearhug, but it was a knee drop from the top rope that gave Koloff the win. Although Koloff dethroned a champion that had held the Championship for nearly eight years, he would not be so lucky. Koloff’s reign only lasted about three weeks.

PEDRO MORALES
DEFEATED: Ivan Koloff
WHERE: New York, NY
WHEN: 02-08-71

WWE Hall of Famer Pedro Morales was loved by fans everywhere, so it was only fitting that he become the man to defeat The Russian Bear, Ivan Koloff for the WWE Championship. Morales pinned Koloff at Madison Square Garden. Morales would also go on to become the first Triple Crown winner in WWE history as he would also win the Intercontinental Championship and World Tag Team Championship.

STAN STASIAK
DEFEATED: Pedro Morales
WHERE: Philadelphia, PA
WHEN: 12-01-73

Pedro Morales proved to be his own worst enemy in his WWE Championship defense against Stan “The Man” Stasiak. Morales delivered a back suplex to Stasiak that went right into a pinning combination. Stasiak was able to get his arm up, while both of Morales’ shoulders were on the mat. When the ref counted three, much to Morales’ dismay, Stasiak’s title reign began.

BRUNO SAMMARTINO
DEFEATED: Stan Stasiak
WHERE: New York, NY
WHEN: 12-10-73

Top 5 Reasons I can't get enough of the Heartbreak Kid

Shawn Michaels, awwww. What can I say - he's been nothing short of wonderful this last year. At times, this wrestler has clearly carried Raw. No one can say that he's a bad wrestler and even when he's a little off; he's still on. Let's chat about the top 5 reasons I can't get enough of the Heartbreak Kid.

5. In June 2006 DX reunited and took over Raw. There is nothing better than seeing HBK and HHH at their best, as babyfaces, and taking on 'the man' Vince & Co. Towards the end of this bitter feud, ironic because of Triple-H's marriage to Stephanie, it did get a bit tired out, but it was great to see Shawn and Hunter paint DX on the headquarters building, Vince's personal plane, and a variety of other stints involving 'cock'.

4. The last few moments of the Royal Rumble Match was amazing when HBK took on The Undertaker. Even though Taker won, there was no better opponent than Shawn Michaels. For a few moments, two legends shared the ring and all of us held our breath. I was hoping for HBK (of course), but if he had to lose, Undertaker was the man to take it away.

3. 'I'd rather be pissed off than pissed on.' This was a great moment on Raw when Vince and Shane were trying to force HBK to take a drug test. Michaels tipped his cup and Vince got pee all over his nice suit. This was a great moment for fans who always love to see anyone get one up on Vincent Kennedy McMahon.

2. Amazing mic skills. Shawn can talk anyone under the table. Batista looks like a joke comparatively. John Cena has really learned some skills from his run with HBK this year and I'm hoping this continues. Michaels and Triple-H together is amazing in interviews. You can tell that Shawn has been around the block and he's not giving up easily.

1. Incredible wrestling talent and a love for what he does. There's nothing better than watching a wrestler that really believes in what he does. Shawn Michaels sells WWE like no one's business. Shawn's clearly a company man, but doesn't compromise in the ring. HBK makes everyone look good and he's usually very willing to take a fall to give the new up and coming guy a chance.

Bone Smackin' Smackdown Review 3-16-07

SmackDown is heading into Wrestlemania with a full head of steam! This week we had a lot of good things and a few not so good, but it was on par with Monday Night Raw this week.

THE HOT STUFF

- Mr. Kennedy vs Matt Hardy. This was a excellent match that showcased why Mr. Kennedy and Matt Hardy are the future of the WWE. Both of these Superstars will be in the Money in the Bank Match at Wrestlemania and this match just built some more heat between these two. Hardy picked up the win with the twist of fate.

-- Ashley, London and Kendrick vs MNM. This 6 man mixed tag team match was pretty good. Anything with London and Kendrick is a pretty good match. I wish these two had something going on at Wrestlemania but the tag team division seems pretty lackluster these days. This match was really to build some heat between Melina and Ashely for their match at Wrestlemania. MNM got the 1-2-3 with a Snapshot after a low blow on London.

--- King Booker vs Undertaker. Another great match from the Undertaker! Following his outstanding match with Finlay last week The Undertaker takes it to King Booker. This match really showed the fire of King Booker and Undertaker. After watching these two go at it I feel that Booker has a good chance to get back into the World Heavyweight Title hunt in 2007. Things were going great until Finlay interfered and smashed The Undertaker, causing Undertaker to get the DQ win. After the interferance The Undertaker throws Finlay into Batista who was at ringside. This was classic Undertaker and made the interference worth it!!

THE NOT SO HOT STUFF

- Smackdown started up with Miz TV ... Again another perfect JBL quote "I don't even know why Miz is still Alive!" Awesome! Unfortunately Batista was the guess on Miz TV. I CAN'T STAND THIS WORTHLESS PIECE OF CRAP! Batista has NO EMOTION! NONE! And of course he did not wrestle this week SURPRISE! Unlike John Cena who wrestles every Monday Night, Batista wrestles maybe once a month on Smackdown and once every other month on PPV. What is the WWE hiding? ... that Batista can't wrestle?! that he does not have any mic skills?! GUESS WHAT WWE ... We know your dirty little secret! You can't hide this man's weakness - week in and week out.

-- MVP squashed some masked Jobber ... The Jobber was the "Honduras" World Champion ... YEAH Right! MVP won with a new move, the PlayMaker, and the move looked pretty good. The good part of this match was after the quick match Teddy Long comes out and tells MVP he is on with Chris Benoit for the US Title at Wrestlemania.

--- Daivari vs Kane. Kane basicly beat the hell out of Daivari as an example to the Great Khali getting ready for their Wrestlemania Match. What makes this match suck is that Kane dragged Daivari to the back with a chain to punish him but we never see what happens .... Bad Editing Smackdown!

SUPERSTAR OF THE NIGHT: THE UNDERTAKER

The Undertaker has been wrestling great matches these past few weeks. He is showing why he is headlining Wrestlemania 23 and why his streak will continue and he will become the next World Heavyweight Champion!

I have not seen The Undertaker this motivated in a long time and it is great to witness!

Overall this was a good episode of Smackdown. Now if we can get the Title Belt off of Batista and not see him for awhile Smackdown will be Awesome! I would like to see more Tag Team action on Smackdown, but I am happy that we have not seen Deuce and Domino for awhile - maybe they went back to the 50's.

MY RATING: 6

WWE Superstar Showcase: Victoria

This is BoneDaddy and welcome to WWE Superstar Showcase. Every few weeks I will pick a WWE Superstar to Showcase so we can get to know our superstars better!!

VICTORIA

From: San Bernardino, Calif.
Signature Move: Widow's Peak
Career Highlights: Women's Champion

Victoria is one of the most vicious Divas in WWE history. Don't let her impeccable good looks fool you. She may be one of the hottest Divas around, but Victoria's beauty is only matched by a mean streak that has helped drive her to two Women's Championships.

Armed with one of the most devastating finishing maneuvers in all of professional wrestling, the Widow's Peak, Victoria had recently aligned herself with two other Divas - Torrie Wilson and Candice. Being the most accomplished competitor of the three, Victoria was often looked upon to fill the enforcer role of the trio, but it was a role she gladly accepted.

But when three beautiful Divas such as Victoria, Torrie and Candice are all sharing the spotlight, there's usually not enough of the spotlight to go around - and this situation was no different. Victoria and Candice turned on Torrie Wilson during Candice's Playboy unveiling on RAW. The duo was set to face Trish Stratus & Torrie Wilson at Saturday Night's Main Event - until Torrie was found laid out in the locker room. Trish found an unconscious Torrie backstage at RAW with an autographed copy of Playboy laying on her prone body.

Torrie's banishment from the trio developed over a few weeks. Candice became the latest Diva to don the cover of Playboy magazine, and she was certainly excited. In fact, after a recent Torrie Wilson loss, Candice said that losing didn't matter because she would be on Playboy in a couple of weeks.

The following week Torrie Wilson accompanied Candice to the ring for her Women's Championship opportunity against Trish Stratus. Candice went for a pinning combination close to the ropes, and Torrie reached out to give her extra leverage. The referee caught Torrie and broke up the pin. Within moments, Trish recovered and scored the victory over Candice.

Torrie tried to apologize backstage to Candice, but the Playboy covergirl wasn't hearing it. In fact, she answered Torrie's apology by slapping her across the face. Torrie sucked it up, though, and went to the ring with Victoria for Candice's Playboy unveiling. Candice began to talk about how she was the hottest Diva to ever appear in Playboy, taking a jab at Torrie, who was also a former Playboy cover girl. Torrie decided to speak her mind and told Candice that she was being selfish. Candice lured Torrie in with an apologetic hug, but then she winked at Victoria and they attacked Wilson.
The double cross should come as no surprise as far as Victoria is concerned. Time after time she has proven that she will do whatever it takes to get what she wants and to work her way to the top of the Women's Division. Victoria made her WWE debut in August 2002, and within just a few months she defeated Trish Stratus for her first Women's Championship. Victoria and Trish have had some of the greatest women's matches of all time over the years, and their rivalry appears to be an ongoing one.

Victoria has also been a pioneer in the Women's Division. At WrestleMania XX she defeated Molly Holly in the first-ever Women's Division Hair vs. Championship Match. After defeating Holly to retain her gold, Victoria humiliated Molly in front of a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden by shaving her head.

Victoria has also shown over the years that she feels that success should only come from hard work. She's a strong believer that nothing should be handed to you in life. So it was no surprise that soon after Christy Hemme became the 2004 RAW Diva Search Winner, that the fiery redhead became Victoria's No. 1 target. Victoria backed up her attacks with a win at Vengeance, proving that hard work does indeed pay off.
